Grange-over-Sands is a charming small town situated on Morecambe Bay with immaculate public gardens, a wide choice of tea rooms, interesting shops and a mile-long mainly Victorian promenade.

The town faces south-east and is sheltered by surrounding hills. It therefore has a warmer than expected local climate. Subtropical plants and trees grow and snow is rare in winter.

The Lake District gems of Windermere and Coniston Water are only a few miles inland. There are several well reviewed hotels in and near Grange-over-Sands ranging from the luxury four to more economical two star hotels.

Grange-over-Sands is a traditional seaside resort with a fine collection of interesting Edwardian shops and tea rooms. In the well kept ornamental public gardens, visitors and locals can relax and feed the ducks on the pond.

The town also has a new swimming pool, an 18 hole golf course, tennis courts and bowling greens. As a seaside resort the town is not short of self catering accommodation available for holiday rent.

Accommodation in the town and nearby villages ranges from large perhaps even historic houses to smaller terraced cottages, barn and other farm building conversions and buildings divided into contemporary apartments.

Grange-over-Sands is a town with a wide tidal range which explains the ‘sands’ in the name. It is located on the north side of Morecambe Bay and has a population of just over 4,000.

The town developed from a small fishing village with the arrival of the railway in the 19th century and became a popular seaside resort. It has a number of hotels, inns, guesthouses and b&bs (bead and breakfast) with others in the nearby countryside and villages like Cartmel and Lindale. The visitor is spoilt for choice!
